Cairns Family Photographer / Jo + Matt + The Boys
Jo + Matt + the boys have lived in Cairns for almost 2 years and they wanted to have some family photos in the area before they shifted to Brisbane. They wanted to have a memory of where the boys have spent the last couple of years of their lives, with views of lush cane fields and rugged mountains.
We had a great afternoon playing with a ball, riding bikes, exploring places and at the park. Bill, their family dog, immensely enjoyed himself and is booking himself in for weekly family photoshoots. He thought it was a great way to spend an afternoon with his 4 favourite humans playing for a couple of hours.
There is some silly saying that goes ‘not to work with children and animals’……well how dull! It is so joyous photographing kids, pets and their energetic personalities. The key I find is not to work against their energy but to work with it and let them have some freedom in a photoshoot to play and be themselves. It is when they are playing that I can best capture those cheeky smiles that reflect how they are at home. The little gestures that Mum + Dad remember of their children, want to preserve in photos.
It is important everyone enjoys a photoshoot so that it is a memory of an actual happy time. If you have a stressful time on a family photoshoot….chances are you won’t like your photos regardless of what they look like as they will remind you of the uncomfortable time you had.
I had a blast with this gorgeous family and I think they had fun too. Jo + Matt’s playfulness with their kids made my job super easy.
